SSC asks you to upload one file: your signature, a JPG of 10 KB to 20 KB, about 6 cm wide and 2 cm high. Add a photo of it in the box at the top of this page and we size it.
A blurred or miniature signature gets the form rejected — unless you used Aadhaar authentication.

SSC advises Aadhaar authentication when you register. With it, the form isn't rejected over the photo or signature, and on exam day you need no extra photos or photo ID.

With blindness, a locomotor disability affecting both arms, or cerebral palsy, you get a scribe or assistive technology if you opted for it in the form. With another benchmark disability, you need a certificate from a government hospital's Chief Medical Officer, Civil Surgeon or Medical Superintendent (Annexure I).
SSC cleared the scribe registrations made before 5 November 2025, so your own scribe must register again on SSC's website, with Aadhaar authentication. For Tier-I, the scribe's OTR had to be mapped by 24 September 2026. If your own scribe isn't Aadhaar-authenticated, SSC provides one.
You get 20 minutes more for every hour: Tier-I is 80 minutes instead of 60.

To qualify you need at least 30% (UR) — the cut-off for Tier-II can be higher.
To qualify you need at least 25% (OBC and EWS) — the cut-off for Tier-II can be higher.

You type a passage of about 2,000 key depressions in 15 minutes. Every post needs it, but it only qualifies.
Some posts set higher standards in the DEST and the computer test: Tax Assistant (CBIC and CBDT), UDC/SSA in CBN, and the posts that need computer proficiency — among them ASO in CSS, MEA and AFHQ, Inspector and Executive Assistant in CBIC, and Postal/Sorting Assistant.
The most errors allowed for you: 20% (UR).
The most errors allowed for you: 25% (OBC and EWS).
The most errors allowed for you: 30%.
With a scribe you get 5 minutes more. PwBD-OH candidates certified unfit to type (Annexure XIV) can be exempted — but not for the computer-proficiency or DEST posts, except Tax Assistant in CBDT.

Before the result, SSC asks for your preferences of posts and departments online. A post you don't list isn't considered for you, and your choices can't be changed afterwards. Miss the deadline and you aren't considered for any post.
Check each post's requirements before you list it: once you are allotted a post, SSC won't change it if you then fail its physical, medical or educational standards.

The merit list comes from Tier-II: Sections I and II of Paper-I, as long as you qualify the computer test and the DEST. You are given the first post on your list that your merit reaches, and aren't considered for the rest.
SSC keeps no waiting list; it uses a sliding mechanism instead.
For AAO, your Paper-III marks are added.
For JSO and Statistical Investigator, your Paper-II marks are added.

Inspector (Central Excise, Examiner, Preventive Officer) in CBIC, Inspector and Sub-Inspector in CBN, Sub-Inspector in CBI and NIA, Sub-Inspector/JIO in NCB and BRO's posts have physical and medical standards. The department checks them after the final selection; fail, and you aren't considered for any other post.
Inspector in CBIC or CBN, SI in CBN: men 157.5 cm tall, chest 81 cm fully expanded (at least 5 cm expansion), walk 1,600 m in 15 minutes and cycle 8 km in 30 minutes. Women 152 cm and 48 kg, walk 1 km in 20 minutes and cycle 3 km in 25 minutes. SI in CBN has no cycling test.
Sub-Inspector: CBI — men 165 cm, women 150 cm; NIA — men 170 cm, women 150 cm; NCB — men 165 cm, women 152 cm. Men also need a 76 cm chest with expansion, and there is an eyesight standard.

After the final result, the department you are allotted checks your documents. Bring two recent passport-size colour photos, an original photo ID, your 10th certificate, your degree with the mark sheets of every year, and your caste or category certificate if you are reserved — originals and photocopies.
A claim in your form that a document doesn't back up gets your candidature cancelled.
Your PwBD certificate in the required format.
Ex-servicemen: the undertaking (Annexure VIII), the serving-defence certificate (Annexure VII) if it applies, and your discharge certificate.
Working for the government or a government undertaking? A No Objection Certificate — and, as a central government employee, the certificate in Annexure VI and the one for any age relaxation you claimed.
Name changed after your 10th? Bring the proof the notice lists for your case — for example a deed poll or affidavit, two newspaper cuttings and the gazette notification.

Questions
When is Tier-II?
SSC hasn't announced it. The notice gave December 2026 as a tentative month — but its tentative months for Tier-I slipped. Add the dates to your calendar above and Tier-II appears there once SSC announces it.
Do my Tier-I marks count in the final merit?
No. Tier-I only takes you to Tier-II; the merit list comes from Tier-II.
Will the number of vacancies change?
It can. SSC's list of about 10,731 is tentative, and the final vacancies may differ. SSC doesn't collect vacancies by state — the departments have those.
Will I be posted in my home state?
Not necessarily. Every CGL post carries all-India service liability. The department may allot you a state or zone, and you may have to learn its language to be confirmed.
