✍️ Your signature: the only file RRB asks every applicant to upload
Upload a JPG of 30 to 49 KB, at least 140 × 60 pixels. Sign in black ink on white paper, in running handwriting with joined letters, not in capitals.
This signature looks blue. RRB's notice rejects a signature in any ink other than black, so sign again with a black pen and take a new photo.

- Use a webcam or your phone's front camera, held at eye level.
- Sit in front of a plain white background, and wear clothes that aren't white. Dark colours are best.
- Don't wear a cap, mask or glasses.
- Never photograph a printed photo or a photo on a screen. If you do, your application will be rejected.
- You can retake the photo as many times as you like before you submit.
As in CEN 08/2026 — the next notice may change it.

RRB asks every applicant for one file: their signature. Sign on plain white paper with a black ink pen, in running handwriting with joined letters. Don't use capital, block or separate letters.
Add a photo or scan of it in the signature box at the top of this page. We crop it, clean the background and save it as RRB asks: a JPG of 30 KB to 49 KB, at least 140 × 60 pixels. In the form it sits in a box 50 mm wide and 20 mm high.
RRB can reject an application at any stage for a background that isn't white, ink that isn't black, capital letters, a thumb impression or someone else's signature.

The form takes your photograph live with a webcam or your phone's front camera, so you don't upload one. Wear clothes that aren't white. Dark colours are best. Don't wear a cap, mask or glasses.
You can retake the photo until you submit. Never photograph a printed photo or a photo on a screen, or your application will be rejected. If the form can't match your live photo with your ID, it gives you a declaration (Annexure VIII) to get signed by a Gazetted Officer and upload.

The form asks for the certificate's number, its date of issue and your caste as written on it. It must be in RRB's format (Annexure II), issued on or after 1 April 2026 and not after the last date to apply, and your caste must be in the central OBC list (ncbc.nic.in).

It must be for the financial year 2025-26, in RRB's format (Annexure III). Your family's income must be below ₹8 lakh a year. Your family must not own 5 acres or more of farm land, a flat of 1,000 sq ft or more, or a residential plot of 100 sq yards or more in a notified municipality (200 sq yards or more elsewhere).

The fee is ₹500. After you sit the CBT, ₹400 comes back to you, minus bank charges. For SC, ST, ex-servicemen, women, transgender candidates, minorities and EBC, the fee is ₹250, and all of it comes back after the CBT. The refund goes to the bank account linked to your Aadhaar.

Before you enter the hall, your identity is checked against Aadhaar by biometrics. Bring your original Aadhaar card or a printout of the e-verified Aadhaar, and keep it unlocked in UIDAI's system.

Bring your e-call letter, an original photo ID and a colour passport photograph taken within the last two months. Only the e-call letter goes into the hall. Don't bring a pen (one is given), a phone, a watch or a bag.

The CBT has 100 questions, and you get 120 minutes. Basic Science, Mathematical and Analytical Capability has 60 questions: half on basic science and maths, and half on reading and analysing data. Logical Capability has 20 questions, on logical reasoning and a reading comprehension in English. Mental Reasoning has 20 questions. Each wrong answer costs you one-third of a mark.
To pass, you need 40% if you are General or EWS, 30% if you are OBC or SC, and 25% if you are ST. Your CBT marks make up 70% of the final merit list.

Print Annexure VI from the notice. Ex-servicemen use Annexure VI A instead. Paste a passport-size photo taken within the last month, attest it yourself, and sign below it. Then visit an eye specialist. The doctor will test your eyes against the A-2 standard: distance vision of 6/9, 6/9 without glasses, near vision of Sn 0.6, 0.6 without glasses, and normal colour vision. If you meet it, the doctor signs the certificate and adds their name, registration number and seal.
Bring the original certificate on the day of the CBAT. If you don't have it, you will not be allowed to take the test. This certificate does not replace the Railways' own medical exam, which comes later.

Only candidates who pass the CBAT are ranked. Their CBT marks count for 70% and their CBAT score for 30%. Based on this merit list and your choice of railway zones, one candidate for each vacancy is called for document verification and the medical exam. If two candidates have the same marks, the older one is ranked higher.

Who could apply
Age: You must be 20 to 33 years old on 1 January 2027. That means you were born between 2 January 1994 and 1 January 2007. With the age relaxation for their community, OBC-NCL candidates can be born on or after 2 January 1991, and SC and ST candidates on or after 2 January 1989.
Education: You need a graduate degree from a recognised university, or an equivalent qualification, by the last date to apply.
PwBD candidates cannot apply for this post. You also cannot apply if you are still waiting for your final result.

Questions
Can PwBD candidates apply for Station Master?
No. RRB says this post is not suitable for persons with benchmark disabilities.
I have had Lasik. Can I become a Station Master?
No. Station Master requires medical standard A-2, which means 6/9, 6/9 vision without glasses. Anyone who has had Lasik or any other surgery to correct their eyesight is not eligible.
What is the vision certificate for the CBAT?
It is a certificate from an eye specialist confirming that your eyesight meets the A-2 standard. It must be in the format given in Annexure VI of the notice (Annexure VI A for ex-servicemen). Bring the original on the day of the CBAT. Without it, you cannot take the test.
Can I apply in my final year?
No. You must have your degree by the last date to apply. If you are still waiting for your final result, you cannot apply.
Can I apply to more than one RRB?
No. You can send only one application, to one RRB. If you apply to more than one RRB, or apply twice to the same RRB, all your applications will be rejected and you may be barred from all RRB and RRC exams.
