Who could apply

Age: 18 to 33 on 1 January 2026 — born between 2 January 1993 and 1 January 2008 (both included). With the community relaxation, OBC-NCL candidates could be born on or after 2 January 1990 and SC/ST on or after 2 January 1988. For others, see Age relaxation.

Education: 10th pass, or ITI, or the National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) from NCVT — already passed by the last date to apply. Those waiting for a result couldn't apply. An engineering diploma or degree doesn't count in place of ITI or apprenticeship.

Date of birth: as in your 10th certificate — any difference disqualifies you.

The CBT

90 minutes (120 with a scribe), 100 questions of one mark: General Science 25, Mathematics 25, General Intelligence and Reasoning 30, General Awareness and Current Affairs 20. 1/3 mark off for each wrong answer.

The pass mark is 40% for General and EWS and 30% for OBC, SC and ST, and up to 2 marks lower for PwBD.

Questions

When is the Group D result?

RRB hasn't announced it. It comes on the RRB websites, by SMS and email. Then three times the vacancies are called for the PET.

RRB's FAQ gives different photo and signature sizes. Which is right?

The notice. It takes your photo live in the form — nothing to upload — and the signature is a JPG of 30–49 KB; the SC/ST certificate for the free pass is a PDF under 400 KB. RRB says the English notice and its corrigenda are final.

Do women and transgender candidates take the PET?

Yes, to a lighter standard: carry 20 kg for 100 m within 2 minutes, then run 1,000 m in 5 minutes 40 seconds. PwBD candidates, railway apprentices and ex-servicemen don't take the PET.

I'm a railway apprentice. When do I give my NCVT marks?

From 22 October 2026 to 28 October 2026, apprentices trained in a railway establishment who sat the CBT but didn't give their NCVT marks can fill them in. Miss it and you get zero for them and aren't treated as an apprentice.

Can I apply to more than one RRB?

No. One application, to one RRB. Applying to more than one RRB, or twice to the same one, gets every application rejected and can bar you from all RRB and RRC exams.
